Description
of the productSP 6 Edilana is a felt of pure virgin wool from indigenous sheep of Sardinia with its thermal insulation, sound-proofing and hygrometric regulation of the environment. It is especially recommended for the sound-insulation and thermal insulation of floors as subflooring and exterior walls. SP 6 has mothproof protection, has no anti-combustion additives, no allergens, to be laid without dustproof coat. The SP 6 has a thickness of 0.6 cm and is supplied in rolls of 10 ml, 0.60 mt wide and upon request can have widths up to 2 mt.
The wool of the SP 6 Edilana product is obtained from white and black sheep raised in Sardinia that live in the wild in semi-uncultivated fields, spread from the sea to the mountains. The mixture of white hair and black hair strengthens the quality of the product. It is particularly simple to lay SP 6.
Thermal insulation is provided by the amount of air that a material manages to trap: The scales of the Sardinian sheep’s wool give the fibre a certain coarseness and with their interstices increase its surface. Its insulating power remains constant even when there is humidity. The Giordano Institute has certified a thermal conductivity of 0.0327 W/mkm standard UNI EN 12667:2002.
Hygrometric
Control of the EnvironmentSheep’s wool is the most hygroscopic fibre that exists in nature. That is, it is capable of absorbing water vapour up to a third of its weight without appearing wet, without swelling or changing its structure. At the same time it is capable of slowly releasing the water absorbed regulating the humidity in the environment. The waxy material (lanolin) that coats the fibres made the wool water-repellent. The excellent control of the humidity, with development of heat during the absorption phase avoids phenomena of condensation. With humidity, some waterproof insulating materials block perspiration causing unhealthy phenomena of condensation and development of moulds. Other transpiring insulating products instead replace the trapping of the air with that of the water, thus losing insulating capacity. In fact, it is the presence of water in the material that transmits towards the inner part the outside temperature. The excellent insulation-transpiration properties of the Edilana product is due to the ratio between lambda (0.0327) and the coefficient of resistance to the diffusion of the water vapour: value µ equal to 3.6 certified by the Giordano Institute (standard UNI EN 12086 – 1999).
SP 6 Edilana has excellent acoustic insulation power capable of creating an effective barrier to sound. The fibre of the wool (the Sardinian one in particular) has a very rich sinuous hook, with strong spiral shape that not only permits the reduction of auditory pollution but of acting on the structure of the sound improving it.
Acoustics: Apparent average dynamic strength 55 MN/m3 Certified by the Giordano Institute Standard UNI EN 29052-1:1993 “Acoustics. Determination of the dynamic strength. Materials used under the floating floors in residential buildings”.
Resistance to air flow: Average dynamic strength 77 MN/m3 Certified by the Giordano Institute Standard UNI EN 29052-1:1993 Evaluation of the dynamic strength of resilient materials as a function of their resistance to the air flow.
The fibres of sheep’s wool (lactiferous) thanks to the strong protein structure, are not only resistant to moulds but actually fight their development. The mothproof treatment which it is put through is non-toxic and its efficacy has been certified by the Giordano Institute Standard ISO 3998:1977. The Sardinian sheep’s wool of the Edilana SP 6 mat maintains intact its natural characteristics over time. It is bactericidal and thanks to its scarce static electricity it does not attract nor accumulate dust, is non-toxic, devoid of glue, resins, polystyrenes, can be recycled, does not rot, is biocompatible, does not irritate the skin, and does not produce breathable fibers or those that can be inhaled.
Sheep’s wool has a high fire-retardant power: it catches fire with difficulty, is self-extinguishing, does not melt, does not drip, chars quickly and does not spread flames, produces little heat and little smoke. The wool fibres suffer damage at temperatures greater than 250oC and combustion occurs at a temperature of 660oC. The SP6 mat is certified in Class 2 of Reaction to Fire (Certified by the Giordano Institute Standard UNI 9177).
